Reporting to the NSW Engineering Manager, the Graduate Design Engineer will will focus on providing Ocean Protect’s multidisciplinary team of internal presales engineers, engineering, and production personnel with the best practice design solutions.
The Graduate Design Engineer will be responsible for creating detailed shop drawings for contractors, engineering consultants, and our internal production team. You will also be involved in providing high quality stormwater models and designs to facilitate the specification, costing, planning and delivery of state-of-the-art stormwater management systems into drainage networks that adhere to the specific regulations of the relevant governing body.

To be successful in this exciting position, you will have well developed communication skills and be able to develop solid working relationships with all stakeholders. This position will require close liaison with the Business Development team, clients/prospects and internal design and engineering teams.
Technical experience in the civil and construction industry would be highly advantageous however any technical experience, i.e. mechanical, electrical etc would be considered.
The successful candidate will be required the use of AutoCAD and MUSIC modelling software in order to deliver designs and related costing on behalf of Ocean Protect.
As an important member of a small and highly skilled team, you will have the drive and commitment to “make it happen” working closely with the company’s senior executives, industry partners and internal engineering personnel.
The Design Engineer will:
Represent Ocean Protect in the market in a professional manner.
Train, learn and coordinate with other internal engineering and technical support staff.
Design, plan and manage Stormwater Quality engineering projects, programs and operations to ensure planning, development and construction are in compliance with all applicable Local/State/federal codes and regulations, and according to all acceptable engineering practices.
Become efficient with the use of AutoCAD and MUSIC modelling software in relation to stormwater quality infrastructure projects.
Performs complex engineering and design work of the Stormwater quality infrastructure projects and; in time, manage designs with external clients.
Build upon skills and maintain active communication with contractors, engineers, surveyors, government agencies for any engineering, surveying or construction issues.
This role is ultimately responsible for completing stormwater quality designs with Ocean Protect products and services..
Skills required.
Ability to understand and follow complex written and oral instructions.
Demonstrate ability to decipher information and employ strategies to appropriately problem solve.
Ability to clearly communicate information both verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices and methods as applicable to Storm Water Drainage Systems.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of public works engineering and Storm Water Drainage System operations.
Ability to retrieve and understand the current codes and regulatory standards governing the regional engineering activities of storm water construction, renovations and maintenance projects.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and some experience with drafting software such as AutoCAD.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Ocean Protect personnel, management, contractors, consultants and client. Whether working in the office or remotely.

Reporting Structure
This position reports to the Engineering Manager.
Remuneration
A highly competitive base remuneration package in line with your experience level ranging from $65,,000 - 100,000, (subject to experience) plus superannuation.
