This role is a hands on position that will see the successful candidate getting directly involved across the Payroll and Accounting function .
This will allow for a broad and practical understanding regarding the relationship between various areas of the business before allowing the individual to step up within their preferred area in due course.
On offer for the successful candidate is the chance to work with highly experienced industry professionals where you will be mentored and trained in a range of duties. You will have full study support to complete a CA/CPA qualification and ongoing development and progression opportunities will be on offer as well.
Responsibilities are as follows but not limited to:
Process end‑to‑end weekly payroll for a large workforce, ensuring accuracy and compliance with EBAs and awards.
Interpret and apply EBA provisions: allowances, overtime, penalties.
Maintain precise employee records: timesheets, onboarding, terminations
Liaise with HR, project managers, and external auditors regarding payroll queries
Generate and distribute payroll reports, manage PAYG, superannuation, and tax reporting.
Job reporting and Job costing
Monthly Compliance Preparation
Lodging Payroll Tax and Bas preparation
Transactional support and daily bank reconciliations
Assisting with monthly and annual budgeting
Identify opportunities to enhance payroll workflows and automation.
Assisting with Accounts payable and receivable when needed
Inventory and purchasing control
Requirements:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting
Relevant Payroll/Accounting experience is advantageous
A ‘can do’ attitude
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and able to train persons from all sorts of walk of life
Ability to work in various locations not limited to our head office, project sites and warehouse
Keen eye for detail
Skill in MS Excel to the level of Pivot tables, Lookup functions, ability to do complex formula will be very advantageous
Able to work with conflicting deadlines and competing demands
Able to manage work and study commitments
Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a wider team
Experience with MYOB, Jobpac Accounting Software is desirable but not mandatory
