About the Role
The Logan Youth Foyer (LYF) is funded by the Queensland Government Department of Housing and aims to offer opportunities and resources to young people to maximise an individual’s capacity to be independent, self-reliant and connected to appropriate social and community resources including assisting them in securing stable and long-term housing.
This position will provide direct service provision, coordination and advocacy of services with young people. This will include the development and facilitation of community and cultural development activities for young people both on site and externally as well as linking in with the wider community. The role requires flexible working hours.
Key Role Accountabilities:
Participate in reflective practice while continuously reviewing professional identity, professional practice frameworks including Advantaged Thinking and displaying high motivative and initiative.
Engage young people to provide assistance including direct practical support in coordination with other LYF team members as required or directed.
Develop and maintain professional communication and relationships with young people and relevant community stakeholders. Facilitate the creation of a safe and inclusive environment.
Work with young people to develop and deliver activities that meet the range of integrated Foyer service offers.
Adhere to all Workplace Health and Safety regulations / legislation and ensure a safe space.
Undertake all administrative duties including but not limited to ensuring high quality, up to date, accurate case notes/materials and maintenance of accurate data and updates in systems. Produce reports as required and update and maintain databases. Provide administrative support to other team members as required and with clear communication to assist with program delivery.
About You
Tertiary qualifications in Human Services or related field (or working towards) and / or extensive experience working in the Community Sector.
Ability to acquire knowledge of and work within an Advantage Thinking framework and the WMQ Housing and Homelessness Practice Framework.
Demonstrated experience in direct program service delivery with young people.
Ability to function as part of a team, autonomously and with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, including report writing, negotiation, advocacy and the ability to effectively engage with young people, community stakeholders and other service providers.
Demonstrated understanding of the current issues for communities and young people
Demonstrated understanding and ability to apply community development principles and frameworks.
The ability to undertake a range of administrative tasks including a very good level of computer literacy.
Desirable:
Current First Aid and CPR certificate
Current Mental Health First Aid certificate
Experience in holistic and inclusive, cultural and community development.
