Your future is Energy Queensland

Every time a light turns on or new energy solutions are created, it's because of us. At Energy Queensland, we're making big changes to power up Queensland’s future, and we need people like you to help make it happen.

Energy Queensland and our brands: Energex, Ergon Energy Network, Ergon Retail, and Yurika - are leading the charge in delivering reliable power to over 2 million customers across Queensland and beyond.

As an Electrical Fitter Mechanic or Linesperson, you’ll be part of a team that keeps Queensland connected and powers communities every day. With us, you’ll gain the skills and opportunities to build a future you're proud of.

Your opportunity

As an EFM or Linesperson, based at Blackall in Central Queensland, you’ll build on your highly practiced electrical skills to ensure the ongoing integrity of our LV and HV overhead powerlines and underground infrastructure for our communities.

Here’s how you’ll do it:

  • Carry out maintenance (preventative, planned, unplanned), and repairs to our distribution network to ensure its ongoing reliability.
  • Construct and augment our distribution network to meet the changing needs of our residential and commercial customers and other stakeholders.
  • Install, repair, commission and maintain various items of electrical equipment and plant that make up our vast distribution network.

The remuneration for your new role is from $113,758 to $117,248 per annum + 14.75% superannuation + applicable allowances.

What’s on offer?

At Energy Queensland, we believe in supporting every aspect of your career and personal life. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Invest in your future: Secure employment, a strong superannuation with a fund of your choice and comprehensive income protection to ensure your financial security.
  • Feel safe and supported: A safety-first culture and access to our 24/7 Employee Assistance Program.
  • Get paid to play: Annual leave loading and salary sacrificing means more spending money in your pocket.
  • Field role perks: Overtime paid at double time and allowances for experienced technical and power workers.

Location Incentives:

If you’re looking to boost your Superannuation before retirement or perhaps, you’re saving to enter the property market, the following allowances will go a long way towards reaching your financial goals.

  • Non-Urban Zone Allowance – up to $16,297 per annum.
  • Housing Allowance – up to $8,819 per annum.
  • Locality Allowance – up to $2,665 per annum.
  • Non-Urban Time Recognition Payments - $10,000 after 2 years and if you decide to stay on for 5, 10, 15 or even 20 years, we’ll pay you $15,000 at each milestone.

Plus, when you decide it’s time for a well-earned break, we’ll give you an additional 4 days of annual leave per year to assist with travel to and from your chosen holiday destination.

And, if you don't currently live in this neck of the woods, we'll also chip in up to $10,000 relocation assistance to make the move just that little bit easier.

What you’ll bring

  • A current Queensland Electrical Licensing Board Certification as an:
    Electrical Fitter Mechanic, and/or
    Electrical Linesperson.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of an electricity distribution/transmission system, including construction and maintenance of an electrical network.
  • Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence.
  • Australian or New Zealand citizenship or an Australian permanent residency.

** For EFMs, previous experience in the Electrical Supply Industry and/or HV Switching, or experience with customer connections, meter installations and upgrades will be very beneficial.

We’d also love you to have:

  • Well-developed interpersonal communication skills to develop good working relationships with team members and external customers. You must have the ability to identify and understand customer needs.
  • Availability for call out and emergency work.
  • Willingness to travel to surrounding area from time to time to undertake work.

What matters most? For us, it’s our values:
We’re Safe – We Belong – We Grow – We Deliver
If you’re going to be a part of our team, these should matter to you, too.
