Kyogle Council is on the lookout for a Trainee Ranger who will play a critical role in enforcing NSW legislation and Council policies designed to ensure community safety in the Kyogle local government area. This includes addressing issues in relation to companion animals, untidy properties, abandoned vehicles and property, illegal dumping, parking, stock on roads and other local government matters.
🏗️ What You’ll Be Doing:
As Trainee Ranger you will:
· Assist with investigating and resolving unauthorised activities under a range of legislation including the Local Government Act 1993, Companion Animals Act 1998, Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997, Impounding Act 1993, Roads Act 1993 and Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
· Assist with providing technical advice and preparing correspondence (including notices and orders) to internal and external stakeholders about compliance matters.
· Prepare reports on compliance matters where required.
· Assist with developing and reviewing policies and procedures for compliance matters where required.
· Perform administration tasks associated with compliance matters including updating registers and reconciling records under the Companion Animals Act 1998.
· Assist with developing and delivering public education programs in relation to compliance matters.
· Maintain Council’s Pound Facility and provide care to impounded animals where required.
· Assist with preparing and providing written and verbal evidence for legal proceedings where required.
· Assist in developing and maintaining a team culture that values performance, continuous improvement and adherence to public sector values in the delivery of high quality services
👥 About You:
The ideal candidate will have:
A commitment to enrolling and undertaking a Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services)/Government Investigations
A Class C Drivers Licence.
