The Opportunity
As a Ranger, you'll report to the Coordinator Compliance and Regulation and play a key role in enforcing local laws and regulations to help maintain public safety, community amenity, and environmental standards across the region. You will carry out patrols, investigate breaches, educate the public, and take appropriate enforcement actions in line with Council's statutes. This role also supports broader organisational goals by contributing to cultural change and continuous improvement in service delivery. You will work collaboratively with internal teams and the community to uphold Council's values and promote a positive public image.

What you'll need to succeed (Essential Criteria)
Relevant qualification in regulatory control such as Certificate IV Local Government (Regulatory Controls) or equivalent experience in relevant local government regulatory functions and services or similar activities.
Proven extensive technical knowledge and demonstrated experience in application of statutory frameworks (including technical standards) relating to Parking and Local Laws Enforcement, Companion Animals, Environmental Compliance and Pollution, Illegal Dumping and Stock Control.
Excellent communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
Proven record of using and integrating new technology, knowledge and skills into work practices and procedures to achieve established work standards.
Demonstrated experience in use of Computer programs - ie Microsoft Office, ECM and Pinforce
Previous experience in Courts of suitable jurisdiction in order to represent the Council in prosecution and defence of regulatory and compliance matters including the ability to present oral and written evidence in Court. Experience in the preparation of documentation and evidence briefs for various courts.
Demonstrated well developed written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external and to negotiate outcomes, resolve conflict, and educate on statutory and enforcement practices.
Demonstrated ability to be resilient to work pressures and demands and has analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to critically analyse issues and develop and implement appropriate solutions.
Be willing to undergo a National Police Check (NPC) and Pre-employment medical prior to commencement
Maintain Class C drivers' licence without restriction
