Clinical or Registered Psychologist – End of Life Care (Community)
Permanent Full-Time | Job Share will be considered| Unique Community-Based Role
Be the Difference in End-of-Life Care
Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) is proud to offer a pioneering opportunity for a compassionate and experienced Clinical or Registered Psychologist to join our Community Allied Health team.
This role is one of the few of its kind in NSW, providing psychological support for end-of-life patients in the community, not in hospital. Our model of care is built on dignity, choice, and connection, allowing patients and families to navigate this final life stage with skilled psychological care in the comfort of their own homes.
Why This Role Matters
This is not just a clinical position, it’s a profoundly human one.
In this role, you will walk alongside individuals and families during one of life’s most complex and sacred transitions. You’ll offer psychological care that honours the emotional, spiritual, and relational experiences of dying, not in a hospital bed, but in the comfort, privacy and familiarity of home.
Unlike many services in NSW where psychological end-of-life support is confined to inpatient units, this role breaks that mould. You’ll be embedded in the community, bringing compassion, expertise and stability to people when they need it most, in their own space, on their own terms.
This role requires emotional courage, clinical maturity, and an unwavering commitment to person-centred care. And in return, it offers extraordinary meaning and impact the kind that stays with you.
About the Role
You will work as a key member of the multidisciplinary Community Allied Health and Specialist Palliative Care Services, providing:
Psychological assessments and evidence-based interventions for people in the end-of-life phase
Counselling and support for families and caregivers, including anticipatory grief and bereavement
Clinical input into care planning alongside nurses, physicians, social workers, and allied health professionals
Contribution to service improvement, quality projects, and research in end-of-life psychological care
Support and supervision of students and early-career clinicians
You will deliver services in client homes, local clinics, and community health settings across the Central Coast.
About You
You are a skilled and emotionally intelligent psychologist who:
Holds full registration with AHPRA as a Registered or Clinical Psychologist
Has a postgraduate qualification in Clinical Psychology (if applying as a Clinical Psychologist) or you are currently undertaking a Clinical Psychology Masters
Brings experience in grief, trauma, palliative care or chronic/complex health presentations
Communicates with empathy, clarity and cultural sensitivity
Works confidently in multidisciplinary settings and within client homes
Demonstrates a commitment to public health and making a meaningful difference
Essential Requirements
Current unrestricted driver’s licence
National Criminal Record Check, Working with Children Check, and Aged Care Check
Eligibility to work permanently in Australia
Why Join Us?
Be part of something rare: One of NSW’s only community-based end-of-life psychology roles
Work with heart: Support clients and families in their homes, on their terms
Grow your practice: Opportunities for research, QI projects, and clinical innovation
Feel valued: Join a team that respects your voice, your skills, and your impact
