About the role
The Boating Industry Association of Victoria (BIAV) seeks to appoint a full-time Communications Coordinator, ideally with knowledge of boats and the boating lifestyle (though not essential), however importantly with digital and social platform skills to reach the right audience. The role will work across all BIAV business units, with a particular focus on key projects, including the Melbourne Boat Show, the Victorian Regional Boat Show, and the Boaters Marketplace project.
The role is part of a small, supportive team in a fast-paced, engaging industry.

What you'll be doing
Further develop and deliver on BIAV’s social media plans, particularly in relation to major boat show events
Manage the Boaters Marketplace marketing platform - a specific tool/website to attract boaters to BIAV member businesses
Develop and circulate all BIAV eDMs to both industry and boaters
Manage, populate and enhance BIAV websites
Liaise with BIAV members and event exhibitors regarding marketing collaborations and social media
Source digital content – photos, video, testimonials, product info, etc
Design and marketing support – signage, collateral, digital content
General office admin and event preparation
What we're looking for
Strong social media expertise, proficiency in content creation and the ability to reach targeted audiences
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences
Ability to source content and to design and develop quality EDMs
Experience in maintaining and creatively enhancing websites
Ability to actively engage stakeholders through phone, email, text and other methods
A keen eye for detail
The ability to work independently as well as part of a small team
Time management and adherence to deadlines
Communications or Business degree or diploma (or similar)
Knowledge of and connection to boats, boating lifestyle, and/or the boating industry
The Boating Industry Association of Victoria (BIAV), is the Voice of the Marine Industry. While supporting and representing the interests of our direct members, BIAV also supports the state’s 205,000 registered boat owners and 440,000 marine licence holders. BIAV focus areas include boat show delivery, government related advocacy, boating promotion, member servicing, and education/industry development.
The Melbourne Boat Show is a major event, taking place in Docklands from 16-19 October across six full marinas and 1.5km of waterfront space in Melbourne’s CBD. There will be over 100 exhibitors, 10 activations, government relations, edutainment, entertainment, industry events, and up to 50,000 visitors.
