The Role
We are looking for a Workforce Development Support Officer for join our growing team in Brewarrina. As a Workforce Development Support Officer (WDSO) you will be working closely with job seekers to plan, develop and deliver a wide range of community activities under the Community Development Program (CDP). The WDSO facilitates the delivery of culturally appropriate activities that are engaging and aligned with job seekers unique skills, aspirations and barriers. The role will engage with local businesses, Government departments and community organisations to identify areas of community need. Yilabara’s CDP programs aim to foster a collaborative, community centred and creative approach to build individual capacities, improve remote infrastructure and enhance economic and social development. The role will also actively manage and ensure their jobseekers are complying. Yilabara's remote employment services model represents a community focused, fast-paced, high performance and compliant environment.
This is a fixed term role to 31 October 2025 with extension subject to Government funding.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Building relationships and understanding the individual needs of CDP job seekers to support entry into the workforce.
Working with communities to understand priorities and translate those priorities into workforce development activities.
Implementing and delivering workforce development activities to build the skills and confidence of participants to take up employment opportunities as they become available.
Providing direct supervision to job seekers while they undertake workforce development activities and other activities as part of Yilabara service delivery model.
Providing support to a number of communities and outreach areas, communicating clearly and effectively to manage expectations of the Yilabara CDP service delivery model.
Delivering workforce development activities in accordance with documented WH&S protocols and administrative requirements.
Delivering high-quality skill building activities tailored to local community contexts and aspirations.
Ensuring that all job placement and outcome targets are met or exceeded including actively reverse marketing to employers.
Maintaining a comprehensive record of jobseeker engagement using all necessary reporting platforms.
Gaining a thorough understanding of the local labour market and identifying where employment opportunities are available
Working closely with CDP Area Manager and all stakeholders to mitigate at risk job placements and maintaining a 75% conversion and retention rate across all placements.
Providing logistical and administrative support for the delivery of workforce capacity building projects
Essential Criteria
Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience working across remote communities.
Knowledge and awareness of the cultural practices, values and issues that affect Aboriginal people in today’s society
Extensive community engagement experience in working with Aboriginal community and organisations
Strong experience in managing stakeholder relationships
Extensive experience in client centred case management
A “Can Do” attitude with the ability to motivate and encourage others
Strong written and verbal communication skills particularly in negotiation and rapport building
Commitment to principles underpinning the values of excellence, best practice, and cultural engagement
Ability to maintain efficient administrative and organisational systems
Ability to use information technology, records management and communication systems
Ability to management competing demands, prioritise and meet deadlines
Ability to work independently and as a member of a high performing team
Working with Vulnerable People Check and National Police Check
Valid Current Drivers license [min P2]
