The Role
We are looking for an Engagement Consultant to join our growing team in Bourke. As an Engagement Consultant you will be responsible for supporting a caseload of predominantly Aboriginal jobseekers under the Community Development Program (CDP). As the CDP Engagement Consultant, you will work closely with job seekers adopting a strength-based approach enabling successful re-entry into employment. These roles operate across a mutual obligation environment in which all CDP Engagement Consultants need to actively manage and ensure their jobseekers are complying. Yilabara's remote employment services model represents a community focused, fast-paced, high performance and compliant environment.
This is a fixed term opportunity to 31 October 2025. Extension is subject to Government funding.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Case manage an active caseload of majority Aboriginal jobseekers working to address barriers that may restrict their goal to re-engage into employment or community projects
Encourage and motivate jobseekers ensuring our focus remains on strengths, capacity and capabilities
Ensure all job placement and outcome targets are met or exceeded including actively reverse marketing to employers
Maintain comprehensive records of jobseeker engagement using all necessary reporting platforms
Support jobseekers to firstly identify appropriate community projects and secondly to refer and support job seekers to undertake these community projects
Gain a thorough understanding of the local labour market and identify where employment opportunities are available
Work closely with other Aboriginal and community organisations meet the non-vocational needs of job seekers by providing warm referrals to specialists and generalist services as required.
Develop individually tailored In-Work Support Plan for all placed job seekers to identify issues and skill/capability gaps as they emerge for the jobseeker or employer
Work closely with CDP Manager and all stakeholders to mitigate any “At Risk” job placements. Maintain a 50% conversion and retention rate across all placements
Essential Criteria
Aboriginality – this is an identified position under Section 14(4) of the Anti Discrimination Act 1977
Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience working across remote communities
Knowledge and awareness of the cultural practices, values and issues that affect Aboriginal people in today’s society
Extensive community engagement experience in working with Aboriginal community and organisations
Strong experience in managing stakeholder relationships
Extensive experience in client centred case management
A “Can Do” attitude with the ability to motivate and encourage others
Strong written and verbal communication skills particularly in negotiation and rapport development
Commitment to principles underpinning the values of excellence, best practice, and cultural engagement
Ability to maintain efficient administrative and organisational systems
Ability to use information technology, records management and communication systems
Ability to manage competing demands, prioritise and meet deadlines
Ability to work independently and as a member of a high performing team
National Police and Working with Children Checks
Valid Current Drivers license [min P2]
