  • About the opportunity

    The University of Sydney is welcoming applications for a Senior Housing Officer, Student Accommodation to lead the financial and operational management of Camden Student Accommodation, which includes Nepean Hall, Nepean Lodge and Nepean Cottages. This role is critical in ensuring revenue optimisation, efficient site operations, and the delivery of a high-quality student experience.



    While day-to-day activities are well supported by existing resources, this position is responsible for the strategic oversight of the site - including financial performance, asset management, applications and bookings - and leads the coordination of a holistic, student-focused accommodation experience in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including the Residential Life team.



    You will lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for the site, while maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders to ensure the residences are maintained to a high standard and operate in line with University expectations.



    The role will work closely with the Student Life team (Wellbeing and Cocurricular) to support an integrated approach to enhance the overall student experience. Travel to the Camperdown Campus may be required as requested by the Accommodation Operations General Manager.



    Your key responsibilities will be to:


  • lead the overall management of Camden Student Accommodation, ensuring effective integration of operations, maintenance and student life functions.
  • lead site-based asset management, maintenance planning, and refurbishment scheduling to uphold University standards
  • oversee occupancy and revenue management, including financial forecasting, reporting, and identifying opportunities to maximise occupancy
  • supervise the site in a professional and student-focused manner, aligned with University policy and contributing to an excellent student experience in collaboration with the Residential Life team
  • manage financial processes, including budget tracking, contractor payments, and reconciliations in coordination with the finance team
  • support the safety and wellbeing of residents, including liaison with security and wellbeing staff, and be on call for emergencies
  • coordinate booking, applications, and peak periods to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • support the general administrative services and operations support for the Student Accommodation business unit
  • oversee compliance with the Residential Tenancies Act requirements and relevant contractual obligations
  • work with the Business Systems and Relationships Manager to ensure strong stakeholder engagement and feedback loops
  • develop and implement local procedures to align with broader accommodation strategies and ensure consistency in service delivery

About you

  • a bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience
  • a First Aid Certificate
  • strong financial and operational management skills, including budgeting, reporting and occupancy forecasting
  • experience in site leadership and coordination, ideally within student accommodation, facilities or hospitality environments
  • broad understanding of real estate principles and compliance with the Residential Tenancy Act
  • extensive project management experience ranging in size and complexity including understanding of the quoting and tendering process, timeline management, contractor management and compliance requirements
  • excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to foster productive working relationships
