Diesel Mechanic – Fleet Maintenance | Workshop-Based | $45–$53/hr + Benefits Location: Brisbane South

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00am–4:00pm (8–10 hour shifts)
Pay Rate: $46–$48/hr (based on experience)

About the Opportunity We’re currently seeking experienced and qualified Diesel Mechanics to join a leading and well-established workshop team servicing government and private sector heavy vehicle fleets. This is a full-time permanent role with long-term stability, excellent conditions, and genuine career growth opportunities, including a 2IC (Second-in-Command) role for those with leadership experience.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy vehicle fleets, including Prime Movers and fire appliances

Perform preventative maintenance, scheduled services, inspections, and new equipment builds

Troubleshoot issues across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems

Safely operate diagnostic tools and workshop equipment

Maintain service records, complete job sheets and compliance documentation

Collaborate with Workshop Supervisors and teams to meet performance KPIs

Provide after-hours on-call support (rostered, as required)

What We’re Looking For Essential:

Cert III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent

Proven experience working with heavy fleet vehicles, especially Prime Movers or emergency service vehicles

Strong fault-finding skills in engines, electrical systems, brakes, hydraulics

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance

Full working rights in Australia

Desirable:

Supervisory experience (for 2IC applicants)

Exposure to firefighting equipment or government fleet is highly regarded

Additional electrical or hydraulic system qualifications
