We're Hiring: Data Specialist – SQL & Power BI Expert

We're GreenDot, an IT consulting firm helping large Australian organisations transform how they use technology. We’re seeking a highly skilled Data Specialist to support project deployments by linking datasets across systems, surfacing insights through SQL and Power BI, and enabling decisions through automation and intelligent reporting.

What You’ll Do

Develop and optimise complex SQL queries and views across diverse systems

Integrate data from Exchange, Azure, SQL Server, and HR platforms into unified, actionable views

Build and maintain sophisticated Power BI dashboards using DAX and structured data models

Perform data validation, transformation, and analysis in Excel (Power Query, PivotTables, etc.)

Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions

(Bonus) Leverage Microsoft Access for legacy reporting and ad hoc queries

What You’ll Bring

Advanced SQL Server expertise (joins, views, query tuning)

Strong Excel skills, including Power Query, PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and VBA

Demonstrated experience in Power BI development with advanced DAX skills

Proven ability to work across fragmented, cross-platform datasets

Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities

(Highly Regarded) Familiarity with Microsoft Access

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

Proven experience (3+ years) as a Data Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst, or in a similar role

Expertise in Power BI, including Power Query, Power BI Desktop, and Power BI Service

Strong proficiency in SQL for querying and manipulating data

Experience with DAX for advanced calculations and data modelling

Knowledge of ETL processes and familiarity with data integration tools

Strong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail

Preferred Skills

Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS

Experience with Microsoft Access and VBA

Previous experience in an IT consultancy or client-facing role
