
Graduate Clinical Coder

The Graduate Clinical Coder will provide support to Hospital and Health Services to complete monthly clinical coding and clinical coding associated activities including audit and education. The role will be fully supported by the statewide professional lead for Clinical Coding to ensure that the graduate's skills in clinical coding grow to a level that they can work within Queensland hospitals in the future.
You will aid Hospitals and Health Services in completing monthly clinical coding requirements during times of higher demand, to cover planned or unplanned leave and/or to cover areas of workforce shortage and assist the coding professional lead with a variety of state-wide initiatives in the areas of clinical coding and coding audit and collaboration. You will participate in all educational modules, study sessions, and group learning activities as part of the Clinical Coding Accelerated Graduate Training Program (AGTP) while committing to the structured 12-month program.

About you
We are searching for someone who has:
- Nationally recognised Diploma of Clinical Coding through a recognised training institution or Bachelor of Health Information Management (HIM).
- Demonstrated knowledge, or the ability to acquire knowledge, of the process of abstracting relevant information from patient medical records and accurately applying ICD-10-AM and ACHI coding standards.
- Ability to develop an understanding of hospital workflows and clinical practice within a healthcare environment.
- Ability to achieve a minimum pass mark of 80% in all clinical coding assessments as part of the AGTP.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
- Proven capacity for self-directed learning, demonstrating autonomy, initiative, and a commitment to ongoing professional development and study.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to develop productive working relationships.
