The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Security Technician to join our small, high-performing team in Ashmore. Your core mission is to keep Australia’s favourite surf-checking network running flawlessly—installing new cameras, upgrading existing sites, and troubleshooting issues on-site or remotely.

This job involves frequent travel (mostly up and down the east coast), with all flights, accommodation, and expenses covered.

What You’ll Do

Install, configure & commission IP-based surf cameras, network devices, and related power/telemetry hardware.

Diagnose & repair connectivity or equipment faults—remotely and on-site—keeping downtime to an absolute minimum.

Document everything: site photos, network diagrams, install notes, and service reports in our ticketing system.

Collaborate with Swellnet editors and Fiicoms engineers to schedule upgrades, optimise bandwidth, and plan future rollouts.

Drive continuous improvement by suggesting smarter kit, tools, and processes as the network scales.

What You’ll Bring

Must-Have:

Proven experience installing and servicing CCTV or IP camera systems

Solid understanding of networking or willing to learn (PoE, routers, LTE/5G modems, VPNs)

Strong fault-finding skills and a “fix it once, fix it right” mindset

Clear, friendly communication with clients and teammates

Valid driver’s licence and Open Cabler Licence

Nice-to-Have:

QLD Security Provider/Installer Licence (or willingness to obtain)

Working-at-heights and EWP (elevated work platform) tickets

Interest in surfing or coastal weather patterns
