Identified Indigenous Information under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
About the role
Galangoor Duwalami Primary Health Care Service is seeking an experienced and dedicated Aboriginal Health Worker or Aboriginal Health Practitioner to join our team in Hervey Bay, Maryborough and our Mobile clinics across the Fraser Coast. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive primary healthcare services to the local Indigenous community.
What you'll be doing
Providing culturally appropriate and holistic healthcare services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients
Assisting in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of clients' healthcare needs
Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualised care plans
Conducting health checks, screenings and immunisations
Delivering health education and promotion programs to the community
Maintaining accurate and confidential client records
Advocating for the healthcare needs of the Indigenous community
Participating in continuous professional development activities
What we're looking for
Formal qualification as an Aboriginal Health Worker or Aboriginal Health Practitioner or working towards
Demonstrated experience in a similar role within the healthcare or community services sector
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients
Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, health beliefs and practices
Commitment to providing high-quality, culturally safe and client-centred healthcare
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Strong organisational and time management skills
Current driver's licence and willingness to travel within the local area
