The Team:
The Emergency Department at the North West Regional Hospital consists of 17 acute clinical spaces with an additional 6 fast track spaces and a 4 bedded EMU. The department has 2 fully equipped Resus bays, a purpose-built mental health assessment area, a negative pressure isolation room as well as 4 negative flow single rooms. The ED is the referral hospital for the North West of Tasmania.
The ED has an annual attendance rate of approx. 29,000 patients per year. Approximately 30% of these patients are admitted for further treatment and care. The Department treats a broad range of patients including major trauma cases. The ED is supported by a wide range of specialties and generally only refers a small number of patients out of the region.
The Role:
We are seeking motivated and experienced Registered Nurses for the Emergency Department at the North West Regional Hospital (NWRH). We are looking for passionate nurses who deliver the greatest quality of care and will collaborate with members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team. It is expected that within the dynamic multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to a strong professional team approach through open communication and a positive supportive environment.
Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, you will contribute to the health outcomes of your patients through excellence in practice, fostering a learning culture, excellent communication skills and working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Previous experience and skills in the below areas would be considered highly desirable:
- resus;
- triage;
- emergency nursing; and/or
- acute nursing.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, full time and part time, shift worker positions available, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 1 July 2025.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $78,179 to $105,995 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
- Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
