We are seeking a dynamic couple to join our team in the following roles:
Indigenous Mentor & Trainer in Housing Maintenance - Carpenter/Plumber
Remote Housing Tenancy Officer
Indigenous Mentor & Trainer in Housing Maintenance - Carpenter/Plumber:
We are looking for a skilled, motivated, and dependable Carpenter or Plumber to take on the responsibility of training and mentoring our Indigenous Housing Maintenance Officers in the Milingimbi & Gapuwiyak Communities. This role is perfect for an individual who loves the remote lifestyle and passionate about empowering our Indigenous Housing Maintenance Officers.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Engagement: Regular remote travel to train our Yolngu men in basic non-trade carpentry and plumbing tasks.
Training and Support: Mentor and motivate employees in their capacity building journey to service their community independently whilst securing a range of training such as first aid, working at heights
Administration: Fulfil a range of administrative duties from managing workplans, setting weekly meeting agendas, completing stock takes, managing weekly training reports, completing monthly reports, managing stock controls
Work Health & Safety: Facilitate on the job work health & safety training
Remote Housing Officer:
We are seeking a motivated Remote Housing Officer with experience in the housing sector. The role will be to provide high-quality housing services to Aboriginal communities in remote areas across East Arnhem Land.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Engagement: Travel to various Aboriginal communities and work alongside our Yolngu community housing officers to deliver culturally appropriate housing services.
Property Inspections: Conduct ingoing and routine inspections of properties under our management to ensure compliance with safety, hygiene, and functionality standards.
Stakeholder Liaison: Liaise with tenants, landlords, contractors, and other stakeholders to address issues, including repairs, maintenance, rent collection, and tenancy agreements.
Advisory Role: Provide advice and assistance to tenants and landlords on their rights and obligations and resolve disputes or complaints professionally and promptly.
Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports of properties and housing services using relevant software and systems.
Professional Development: Either hold a Property Management License or be willing to complete the Certificate in Property Services within the first year of employment to meet ongoing professional development and compliance requirements.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
A current manual driver’s license and the ability to travel to remote locations regularly, sometimes for extended periods.
A strong understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal culture and the Yolngu language, with the ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal communities and Yolngu housing officers.
Experience in the real estate or housing sector, preferably in a remote or rural setting.
A high level of initiative, problem-solving abilities, and organisational skills, with the capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
A positive attitude, a passion for providing quality housing services, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
Perks and benefits for each role:
Overall Package Ranging $132,356 - $168,080 (per person)
Base Wage - $72,800 - $104,000 plus (per person)
