This Federal Government agency plays a key role in delivering strategic programs and initiatives that support national priorities. With a strong focus on governance, performance, and accountability, the agency is seeking an experienced Assistant Director to join a high-performing team within its corporate services function.
Your new role
As Assistant Director within the Planning and Performance section, you will play a pivotal leadership role in delivering key corporate accountability documents, including the Corporate Plan, Annual Report, and Performance Statements. You will lead a small, high-performing team and manage a portfolio of strategic projects aimed at enhancing corporate governance, performance reporting, and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the development and delivery of key planning and performance documents.
- Providing strategic advice and high-quality briefs to senior executives and governance committees.
- Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including oversight of audit and compliance activities.
- Driving innovation in performance measurement and reporting frameworks.
- Supporting the agency's response to ANAO audits and contributing to a culture of integrity and accountability.
- Leading and mentoring staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
What you'll need to succeed
As well as the below, this role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a minimum Baseline Australian Government security clearance.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Strong leadership and project management skills, with experience in corporate planning, governance, or performance reporting.
- Excellent written communication skills, particularly in preparing executive briefs and strategic documents.
- A sound understanding of the PGPA Act and its application in a Commonwealth context.
- Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, complex environment with competing priorities.
- A commitment to cultural safety and working respectfully with diverse communities.
