About Us:
Playgroup WA has been supporting families and young children across Western Australia for over 50 years. Our vision is for children and families to thrive within their local communities. We are committed to fostering inclusive, community-based playgroups that promote the development and well-being of children aged 0-5 years while supporting parents and caregivers.
About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and motivated Road Safety Project Officer to lead a consultative and research-based project that explores barriers and gaps in existing road safety education programs for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD), Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and lower socioeconomic families with children aged 0–4 years, as well as the broader community. The role involves producing a comprehensive report with recommendations and delivering innovative, inclusive approaches to child road safety information distribution across Western Australia.
As the Road Safety Project Officer you will engage with diverse communities, collaborate with stakeholders, and identify barriers to road safety information. This role requires excellent project management skills, community engagement experience, and a commitment to improving child safety outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct research and data collection on attitudes, knowledge, and behaviours related to child road safety in target communities.
Facilitate workshops, forums, and community consultations to understand community needs and challenges.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including cultural advisors and road safety experts, to inform project delivery.
Identify and assess barriers to accessing road safety information and explore innovative information distribution opportunities.
Support the development of culturally appropriate resources and communication strategies.
Prepare project reports, evaluations, and recommendations based on evidence and community feedback.
Travel to metropolitan and regional areas as required to engage with communities and stakeholders.
About You:
We are looking for a motivated and community-focused individual with:
Experience in project management, particularly in community-based or public safety initiatives.
Strong understanding of and experience working with diverse communities, including CaLD, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and lower socioeconomic groups.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
Analytical skills to interpret data and identify community needs and information gaps.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and deliver project outcomes.
A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel throughout Western Australia.
Desirable:
Experience in road safety, child safety, or public health programs.
Knowledge of best practices in community engagement and cultural competency.
Why Join Us?
Be part of a meaningful project that positively impacts child safety and community well-being.
Work within a supportive, collaborative, and inclusive team.
Opportunity to engage with diverse communities and create lasting change.
How to Apply:
