Job description:

Program Practitioner

Corrective Services NSW

Location - Junee Correctional Centre (Junee)

Employment type - Ongoing Full-time role

Salary - $110,266 pa -- $122,058 pa plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.

Your role

Step into a role where your impact is profound! As a Program Practitioner, you'll be at the forefront of delivering transformative group-based therapy for inmates. You'll co-facilitate intensive programs that tackle the root causes of substance abuse, sexual offenses, and violent crimes, guiding participants towards meaningful change. This is your chance to make a real difference in rehabilitation and recovery.

For those who are entertaining the idea of a relocation. Junee is located in a beautiful pocket of NSW's Riverina region, just a short drive from Wagga Wagga, Junee is full of surprises. The town revolves around its delectable Licorice and Chocolate Factory. But as a stop on the major Melbourne-Sydney railway line, this pretty country town is also home to a fascinating railway museum. And then there's the haunted house and heritage streetscapes.

What you'll do

As part of the dedicated Program Practitioner at Junee, you will:

  • You will guide participants through evidence-based interventions aimed at increasing their self-awareness, promoting personal accountability, and teaching practical skills for leading a crime-free life. By motivating inmates to change and providing them with the tools needed for rehabilitation, you'll play a critical role in enhancing community safety and reducing re-offending rates.

What we're looking for

  • Demonstrated expertise in facilitating group treatments for adults from diverse backgrounds, including those with complex needs.
  • Proven experience in delivering evidence-based interventions, particularly in challenging environments.
  • Strong capability in managing challenging behaviours, along with an understanding of functional behaviour assessments.
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills, especially in offender management contexts where independent professional judgment is required.
  • Knowledge of contemporary correctional practices and issues related to assessment, case management, intervention, and behavioural change, particularly with sexual, violent, or substance-abuse-related behaviours.
  • Familiarity with administering and interpreting offender risk and criminogenic need assessments.
