Classification and Placement Officer

Corrective Services NSW

Location - Junee Correctional Centre

Employment type - Ongoing Full-time role

Salary - $97,027 pa -- $107,059 pa plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.

Your role

As a Classification and Placement Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and effective placement of inmates across New South Wales. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the justice system by coordinating classification and placement processes that have a direct impact on inmate management and rehabilitation. If you are passionate about corrections and want to make a meaningful difference, this role is for you.

What you'll do

As part of the Classification Placement Team, you will coordinate and facilitate the operations of the Classification and Placement process, ensuring quality outcomes in a custodial environment. You'll provide expert advice on inmate classification and placement procedures, conduct detailed analyses of inmate information, and generate essential reports to support informed decision-making.

You'll work as part of a collaborative team of professionals dedicated to maintaining a secure and just correctional system. The environment is dynamic, with a focus on achieving the best outcomes for both inmates and the broader community.

What we're looking for

  • Expertise in interpreting and applying legislation, policies, and procedures related to inmate classification and placement.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to review and process complex inmate information.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to unplanned events in a fast-paced environment.
  • A current and valid driving licence with a willingness to travel within NSW.
