About the Role:
We are inviting applications for this Allied Health Assistant - Social Work position from suitably qualified people, such as those who have completed a Certificate in Allied Health Assistance or one year of a social work qualification. We support suitable qualified and experienced Allied Health Assistants embarking on a career change into social work or a hospital setting. You will have support from team leaders, our clinical educator and experienced social workers who will provide skills development, support and supervision.
Our Social Work Department provides social work services across the Canberra Hospital, including critical care units, medical and surgical wards, and maternity and paediatrics. See position description for further job information.
Under the direction of a social worker, this position undertakes practical tasks such as referral for care or housing, providing information and supporting NDIS, Housing and Aged Care processes.
This position is a full-time position; however reduced hours may be considered.
Please note: This position is a broad banded role and progression to an AHA 3 is subject to meeting specific qualifications and competencies, as well as the Department's capacity to provide duties for the transition.

- Current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.
- Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.
- Comply with CHS credentialing and scope of clinical practice requirements for allied health professionals.
