This prominent government entity is seeking a skilled and motivated legal professional to join its Strategic Commercial Law Advising Section. With a strong focus on delivering complex programs overseas, this team plays a critical role in shaping legal frameworks and supporting operational success across a range of jurisdictions.

Your new role

As an APS6 Lawyer or EL1 Assistant Director (depending on experience), you will provide high-quality legal advice on a broad range of commercial law matters. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to support contracts and arrangements involving commercial entities, NGOs, foreign governments, and international organisations. Your responsibilities will include:

• Advising on commercial law issues and drafting legal documentation
• Supporting the delivery of international programs by tailoring advice to diverse legal and operational contexts
• Providing guidance on Commonwealth financial frameworks, including grants and procurement
• Building strong working relationships across the department to deliver client-focused legal solutions
  
  What you'll need to succeed
  
  To be successful in this role, you will have:
  
  
  
• A minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience (PQE) in commercial law
• Demonstrated ability to provide practical legal advice in a government or regulatory environment
• Strong understanding of Commonwealth financial frameworks (highly desirable)
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• The ability to think strategically and adapt advice to complex and evolving contexts
• Eligibility for a Section 26 transfer is essential and an NV1 clearance
