The Opportunity
This role goes beyond the traditional generalist scope, providing the chance to lead the P&C function for our clients East Coast campuses and implement impactful initiatives. You will serve as the primary point of contact for all P&C matters locally, while collaborating closely with HQ P&C team and national management.
This mid-senior level role demands candidates to demonstrate self-motivation and decisiveness, along with a comprehensive knowledge of employee relations and compliance. Responsibilities include managing local P&C operations and providing expert guidance to managers on complex personnel issues, such as mediations, investigations, and disciplinary actions. Furthermore, the position serves as the primary point of contact for general staff inquiries or concerns. The individual will play a crucial role in cultivating a positive, equitable, and people-focused culture while serving as a trusted advisor to both employees and leadership.
This position is integral to the overall success of the company and will see you:
Support the HR function by assisting with the management of the HR function across the Group (recruitment, onboarding and training new starters, performance management, IR, ER, remuneration, talent management, disciplinary, grievances etc.)
Support the very down-to-earth HR Manager with the business to provide coaching, support and drive the People and compliance agenda to ensure leaders are empowered and individuals are supported
Providing advice and guidance in relation to HR policies, procedures and programs (e.g. recruitment, onboarding, remuneration, benefits)
Maintaining and updating HR records
Completing HR administrative tasks (ie. contracts, position description proposals, onboarding and offboarding)
Keeping up to date with Australian employment law, market practice and applicable awards
Developing the ability to interpret and apply the provisions of legislative, industrial and administrative regulations as they relate to HR
Builds relationships and collaborates with internal stakeholders
Clarifying issues and the needs of clients and stakeholders to enable the development of suitable solutions that meet client group requirements
Support the HR Manager in providing leadership, counsel and best practice information in areas of employee relations, performance management, grievances, and compliance
Collaborate with the HR Manager on all stages of the employee lifecycle
Oversee the ongoing management and administration of our HR databases and systems
About you and what you will bring to the table….
Tertiary qualifications in Business, Human Resources
Minimum 4 years' experience in a generalist role
Exceptional communication, collaboration, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Broad knowledge of HR practices
Strong Leadership skills
Knowledge of the Tertiary Education Sector - Desirable but not a deal breaker!!!
Ability to travel to our Brisbane campus ideally every 2-3 months
Knowledge of the National Employment System and Modern Awards
Ability to work independently and make informed decisions
You understand the importance of and demonstrate integrity, confidentiality, discretion and tact
Strategic and growth mindset with proactive business approach
Well-developed interpersonal skills to work effectively within a culturally diverse and multi-disciplinary environment
Excellent communication skills and highly service orientated
Ability to exercise initiative and discretion
