About the team:
Situated with the Planning and Regulation department, the City Standards branch is responsible for developing the City’s standards and local laws and issuing of City enforced permits to residents and organisations. The Licenses and Permits business unit is responsible for issuing permits/licences/approvals across multiple services including:
Events
Temporary road closures
Advertising devices
City Laws approvals
Environmental Health permits
Trade waste
Animal registrations
Parking
About your new role:
An exciting, fixed term position has become available for an experienced, organised and enthusiastic Events Liaison Officer to provide a centralised liaison service, assisting event organisers navigate the requirements of delivering an event on the Gold Coast. You will coordinate a streamline consultation process for event organisers seeking to use Council controlled land.
The position is administrative and coordinates a streamlined consultation process with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, seeking their expertise and advice to assist event organisers with the safe and successful execution of their events. Key stakeholders include Divisional Councillors, Traffic and Transport, Health and Regulatory Services, Parks & Recreation Services, City Assets, Emergency Services, and the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation.
At any given time, you will be working closely with approximately 30 separate event organisers, each having competing deadlines. Attention to detail is paramount as are your time management skills, in addition to carefully balancing the demands of event organiser against the desire to provide a relaxed lifestyle for our residents and visitors.
Please note – this position does not entail the planning and delivery of events and is predominantly office based.
Key Deliverables include:
Provide a centralised liaison service to assist event organisers with navigating the requirements of delivering an event on the Gold Coast.
Assess event applications, including key event documentation (ie. Event Management Plans, site maps).
Consult with relevant internal and external stakeholders to assist event organisers with the safe and successful execution of their events.
Assist event organisers with the development and implementation of required event plans, providing mentoring, guidance, and support.
Facilitate and manage stakeholder meetings to assist in the pre-planning and post event phases.
Coordinate all Council products and services required to be supplied for events held on Council controlled land.
Identify and manage costs of all Council products and services required for events, on behalf of event organisers.
We're looking for people who have:
Have proven experience in events open to the public.
Have an intricate understanding of the complexities of events, including key event documentation such as event and risk management plans.
Have excellent organisational skills relating to time/task management and the ability to meet deadlines and juggle priorities.
Can build purposeful relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Are a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Are skilled across the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
Holds a current C Class Drivers Licence
