  • Technical Officer Grade 1-3 | Salary from $73,522 - $113,562 pa + superannuation + leave entitlements

The salary offered to the successful candidate will be commensurate with qualifications, skills and experience, as outlined in the Crown Employees (Department of Industry) Technical Staff Award and the Technical Staff Merit Progression Guidelines.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Technical Officer, Pastures, you’ll provide essential technical support to the Project Leader across a range of field, glasshouse and livestock experiments, as well as data management. You will support the day-to-day running of the project and play a key role in supervising technical assistants or casual staff.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Establishing and managing multiple field and glasshouse experiments in accordance with experimental protocols and best management practice.
  • Operating and maintaining field equipment and laboratory instruments used in agronomic research.
  • Leading, collecting and accurately recording research data and information.
  • Coordinating field sample collections and ensuring quality sample evaluation.
  • Ensuring all work aligns with WHS and quality management procedures.

We’re looking for someone who can bring:

  • Strong technical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in the field. You’ll be organised, confident in leading others, and committed to maintaining high research standards.
  • Extensive experience in pasture agronomy, animal management, or agricultural experiments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • You must hold a current MR licence (HR Licence preferred)
