How You'll Make a Difference
Cairns Regional Domestic Violence Service (CRDVS) is seeking a 0.9 FTE Domestic Violence Worker based in Atherton, QLD.
This role involves providing crisis intervention, ongoing counselling, and assistance with Domestic Violence Protection Orders, reporting to the Senior Practitioner.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Providing crisis intervention including intake and assessment
Offering crisis counselling and ongoing DV counselling
Assisting at Mareeba Domestic Violence Court with information and referral
Working closely with the Queensland Police Service (QPS) on improving the safety of victim-survivors
Engaging in group work and community education
Maintaining accurate and confidential records of client work

As our next Domestic Violence Worker, you will have the rewarding opportunity to provide crisis intervention to clients accessing support for family and domestic violence. This will be through conducting intake, assessment, crisis counselling, and assisting with Domestic Violence Order applications. Your work will ensure that victim-survivors of family violence can receive timely and safety-enhancing services.
What You'll Bring to the Team
To qualify, you will need tertiary qualifications in behavioural or social sciences. A minimum of 1-2 years experience in the domestic and family violence support industry will also be essential.
Moreover, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
High-level case management skills
Crisis intervention experience
Counselling and advocacy abilities
Experience with community engagement
Knowledge of domestic violence dynamics
As our ideal candidate, you will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to work both independently and within a team. You should demonstrate initiative, cultural sensitivity, and a deep understanding of domestic violence issues.
This is a role where you can make a significant impact, supporting victims and working towards the elimination of domestic and family violence in our community.
Your ability to apply an intersectional lens to your practice and your understanding of the gendered nature of violence will be critical to your continued success at our service. Highly developed communication skills that allow you to engage with a diverse range of victim-survivors and external stakeholders will also ensure relevant information is being dispersed in an appropriate manner.
Please Note: All applicants must hold (or obtain) a current C Class driver's licence, a Working With Children Card and a formal police criminal history check.

The successful candidate will enjoy a competitive annual salary of $100,000 - $104,500 p.a. (pro rata for 0.9 FTE) + superannuation, in line with Level 5 SCHADS Award, plus:
