The Role

The focus of the Infrastructure Engineer role is to support the Infrastructure Programs Coordinator in all aspects of the assessment, design, construction, and handover of Public Domain infrastructure assets developed throughout the Waverley Council geographic area (both by private development and the Council’s Major Projects team).

The role is responsible for assessing development plans and issuing compliance certificates for public domain infrastructure upgrades across the LGA. This will include inspecting assets, investigating solutions and working with applicants and developers to solve ongoing infrastructure issues. Responsibilities include the development of project briefs, budgets, assessment of drawings for works packages, and procuring consultant services. It will include risk mitigation and oversight of development activity in line with Council standards and Engineering Industry best standards. The role may also have exposure to stormwater management across the local government area and assist with the development of Waverley Council’s Capital Works Program.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Asset Management, Environmental Engineering or associated discipline,
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Asset Management and/or infrastructure design &/or stormwater management,
  • Demonstrated skills in computer applications including Geographical Information Systems.
  • A strong foundation in civil engineering principles and practices.

Desirable:

  • Post Graduate Engineering or management qualifications,
  • Project Management: The ability to manage projects from inception to completion. You should be skilled in developing project plans, setting milestones, and coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Legislation and Regulations: Familiarity with local, state, and national transportation laws, regulations, and standards is important. This includes knowledge of road design guidelines, traffic management plans, and relevant environmental and safety regulations,
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities will help you assess, conduct feasibility studies, and propose appropriate solutions,
  • Continuous Learning: Keeping up with the latest industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices. Actively seeking professional development opportunities and staying informed about emerging technologies will enhance your skills and expertise.
