What be you’ll doing?
- Oversee the payroll function and ensure an accurate and timely payroll process for all employees.
- Lead, train, and support payroll staff to ensure quality and consistency.
- Manage end-of-month and end- of- financial – year processes and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, awards, and tax regulations.
- Ensure payroll accuracy through audits and continuous process improvement.
- Manager employee benefits and related payroll deductions.
- Respond to employee payroll queries and resolve discrepancies.
- Administer and enhance payroll system, including Chris 21 and My HR.
- Liase with HR, Finance, and external stakeholders for seamless operations.
Essential requirements
- Ability to manage, engage, lead and inspire others to achieve outcomes for the benefit of the organisation and community – Previous people leadership experience essential.
- Minimum five years of relevant experience in managing or coordinating a large payroll function using Chris 21.
- Highly proficient in Chris21.
- High level of numeracy, attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- A strong commitment to delivering quality customer service, particularly in the area of resolving customer enquiries and complaints.
- Extensive practical experience in system report writing and trend analysis.
- Sound administrative and organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of employment related legislation such as the Industrial Relations Act and the ability to interpret Awards, Agreements, policy and procedures.
- An understanding of and commitment to EEO
Desirable requirements
- Experience in Local Government
- Tertiary qualifications or a Certificate in Business Management, Accounting, Financial Services, Bookkeeping or equivalent experience
