Are you ready to lead payroll operations for one of Australia's most respected national organisations? We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Payroll Manager to take charge of payroll governance, strategy, and delivery—ensuring compliance, efficiency, and a high standard of service.
About the Role Reporting to the Head of HR, you will be responsible for leading the national payroll function, including all aspects of payroll delivery, compliance, remuneration, and benefits. You will provide strategic leadership and expert advice on pay-related legislation, modern Awards, organisational frameworks, and contemporary payroll practices.
This role is also responsible for shaping and implementing a modern, fit-for-purpose remuneration and benefits program that aligns with broader organisational strategy, driving process improvement, and minimising operational risk.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery across a national workforce
- End to End payroll 4000 Employees
- Chris 21 Payroll System
- Kronos Time and attendance System
- Leading a team of 7 Payroll staff
- Process weekly, fortnightly and monthly Payroll
- Lead strategic projects including payroll transformation, systems upgrades, and compliance reviews
- Interpret complex industrial instruments and employment legislation in collaboration with HR and Legal
- Build and implement remuneration frameworks aligned with organisational goals
- Provide expert leadership to a team of payroll professionals, driving performance and capability development
- Foster strong partnerships with internal stakeholders including executive leadership and senior managers
About You You're a proven payroll leader with a track record of navigating complex payroll environments and leading teams through change. Your strengths lie in operational excellence, payroll governance, and strategic thinking.
You will bring:
- Extensive knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Awards, NES, and the Fair Work Act
- Experience designing and implementing payroll strategy, frameworks, and compliance programs
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
- High-level analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Demonstrated success leading payroll system upgrades or implementations
- Strong people leadership and mentoring skills
