About the role

The Principal Contracts Lead is accountable to the Manager - Contract Management and is responsible for developing, planning, managing and reviewing Goods and Services contract programs, projects and services across TAFE SA. The role provides high level contemporary advice and support on the development and management of contracting strategies to successfully achieve key business outcomes in line with TAFE SA’s strategic plan. Working closely with internal business units and the Procurement and Contract Management team, this role manages and negotiates Goods and Services contracts.

Your new role will involve:

  • Managing a portfolio of Strategic and Complex contracts extracting value for money and contributing to strategic objectives
  • Providing contemporary advice and support to stakeholders across TAFE SA regarding strategic contract issues
  • Ensuring that contracts are formed and managed in a way to effectively ensure that outcomes are delivered and optimised
  • Developing collaborative working relationships, and managing and motivating staff, customers and others in the achievement of objectives
  • Managing and negotiating the resolution of goods and services contracts
  • Conducting complex high-quality research and identifying and resolving complex issues with innovative solutions
  • Contribute to a high performance and professional work team culture and continuous improvement

  • You will work with varied and high value contracts, adding diversity to your knowledge base and existing contracts management skill set

What you will need to apply:

  • Significant experience initiating, planning, and delivering goods and services contract related programs, projects, systems and services
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills to confidently develop and manage stakeholder relationships, foster collaboration, build implicit trust with the stakeholder base and manage complex multi-stakeholder issues
  • Experience in the preparation and negotiation of complex procurement contracts
  • Capacity to work within broad policy guidelines, both within a team and autonomously, to apply significant levels of independent judgement and delegated authority in the delivery of programs of critical importance to TAFE SA
  • Demonstrated capacity for original thinking and high-level ability to think strategically, conceptually and creatively to deal with competing demands and formulate clear and practical strategies to influence and manage multiple competing priorities
  • Qualifications in procurement, contract management, supply chain, law, or business beneficial
  • You will display proactive problem-solving abilities, and a continuous improvement mindset
  • You will be a community minded individual, passionate about ensuring the delivery quality education for TAFE SA students

Special Conditions

The successful applicant is required to demonstrate having a valid DHS Working With Children Check (WWCC) prior to being employed. Applicants who do not hold a WWCC will need to apply at Department of Human Services (DHS).

  • Out of hours work will be required.
  • Some intrastate/ interstate travel and overnight absences may be required.
  • Incumbent will be required to participate in the department’s Performance Development Program
  • Eligibility to work in Australia.
