Overview: Perform routine tasks on a fruit farm such as cultivating and fertilising soil, planting, irrigating and pruning crops and applying chemicals to treat diseases and pests.

Specific tasks include:

· Operating farm machinery to prepare soil for planting crops, Strawberries, Tomatoes, Watermelon.

· Building trellises for tomatoes’

· Planting seeds, seedlings by hand or machine

· Irrigating land for crop growth.

· Thinning, weeding and hoeing row crops and pruning as required

· Spraying plants with chemicals to control weed growth, insects and diseases

· Selecting and picking fruit according to size and ripeness.

· Grading, sorting and packing products into containers

· Storing packed product into cool room

· Loading filled fruit containers onto trucks

· Applying hygienic and safe food handling measures.
