The Tile Collective is an industry leader in top quality tiles and tiling products who are known for quality, customer service and value. We have recently experienced a period of significant growth and we now need to expand our Commercial team.
Role
Reporting to the Commercial Sales Manager, the Commercial Business Development Manager is responsible for driving commercial growth by identifying and securing new business opportunities within the retail and commercial building sectors. The role focuses on expanding the customer base—particularly targeting builders, interior designers, architects, and property developers—while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients. The successful candidate will combine deep market knowledge in the construction and interiors industry with a proactive sales approach and strong negotiation skills to grow market share in tile products.
Key Responsibilities include:
New Business Development: Identify and approach potential clients in the retail, commercial, and residential construction sectors—including builders, designers, specifiers, and developers.
Client Relationship Management: Develop and nurture long-term relationships with key decision-makers to drive repeat business and brand loyalty.
Sales Strategy Execution: Develop and implement sales strategies tailored to the tile industry, supporting both short-term wins and long-term growth objectives.
Project Specification Support: Work with clients and specifiers to recommend suitable tile products based on design, function, and budget. Assist with quotes and sample requests.
Retail and Commercial Coordination: Collaborate with showroom teams and internal departments to ensure product availability, pricing accuracy, and smooth project execution.
Tenders and Contracts: Respond to RFPs, prepare commercial bids, and negotiate contract terms for large-scale supply agreements.
Market and Trend Analysis: Monitor trends in tile design, architecture, and construction to keep offerings competitive and aligned with client needs.
CRM and Reporting: Maintain an up-to-date CRM database and provide regular reporting on leads, conversions, sales performance, and forecasts.
You
To be successful in the role you will have the following knowledge, skills, and attributes:
Understanding & Interpreting floor plans
Outstanding Customer service and communication skills
Attention to details, time management and organisation skills
Knowledge of CAD or similar program welcomed not essential
Ability to work under pressure and deadlines
Fluent with outlook – calendars and scheduling appointments
Experience in selling flooring or other relatable building products preferred, and are comfortable dealing with Builders, Tradespeople, Architects and consumers.
Ability to travel between locations - in particular our Herston, Underwood and Labrador showrooms
