About the role
Curtin University is seeking a part-time (0.8 FTE) Project Manager to lead the development and implementation of the Rural and Remote Health Outcomes Monitoring Platform project. This fixed-term role, lasting until 2027, involves direct business impact with firm deadlines and requires effective project planning and governance throughout the project lifecycle.
The Project Manager will be responsible for managing a team of supporting staff and will focus on assessing and mitigating risks to ensure project success. If you are a well-organised and responsible individual who is passionate about making a real difference, we encourage you to apply!
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee all project activities from initiation to close-out using appropriate project management methodologies.
- Develop essential documentation, including business cases, ethics applications and applications for data, project initiation documents (PIDs), work plans, timelines, and communication strategies.
- Build productive relationships with stakeholders and partners to identify project deliverables and negotiate objectives.
- Work with the team to develop a project sustainability strategy.
- Ensure clear and consistent communication throughout all project phases.
- Manage and allocate project resources, monitor risks, and report on project progress.
- Manage internal and external resources, procure third-party services as needed, and oversee subordinate staff.
- Write confidential project reports, contribute to research papers, facilitate meetings, and evaluate project milestones to ensure deliverables are met effectively.
- Engage in various activities aligned with responsibilities to contribute to project success.
Who we are looking for - Selection Criteria
- Postgraduate qualifications in project management and/or clinical background (or progress towards) and extensive relevant experience; or extensive project management experience and expertise, or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and/or education/training.
- Demonstrated high level project management skills with the ability to manage and implement project plans to achieve desired outcomes within budget and resourcing constraints.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal and oral communication skills with the ability to consult and liaise effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders and with cross cultural sensitivity.
- Demonstrated high level written communication skills with the ability to construct clear and concise project reports.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple and often competing tasks with attention to accuracy and detail within deadlines.
- Proven ability to work effectively with a cross functional team, including the capacity to supervise and manage other staff.
- Demonstrated critical analysis skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment in decision making.
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience working with rural health services
- Previous experience in a health research environment.
- Experience working on a digital development project
- A formal certification/accreditation in project management.
- Experience or willingness to learn Microsoft Project
*Please note, as per Curtin’s 2022-2025 EBA, a 3,5% salary increase will also take effect on 20 June 2025.
Role Requirements:
- As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.

- Interstate travel may be required.
- Ability to work outside of normal office hours when required.
