Townsville Catholic Education (TCE) is seeking registrations from passionate and competent school officers (teacher's aides) available during the 2025 school year.
As a relief school officer, you will fill in short term vacancies in our Primary and Secondary schools located in Far North Queensland (around Townsville and regional areas).
To successfully apply as a school officer, you are required to complete the following:
STEP 1 - Complete Registration Form
Complete the online registration form (at the bottom of this page). For eligibility, you will need to have:
Working rights in Australia - i.e Australian birth certificate or Australian Passport or Australian Citizenship Certificate or valid working visa
A current PAID Blue Card
(Ensure you are selecting the correct application form for your chosen position)
Allow approx 4 days for us to review your application.
Please note ALL time frames are approximates ONLY and subject to change dependant on time of year and supply team workload
STEP 2 - Reference Check
In order to make an informed decision on your suitability for the role, TCE will conduct two professional reference checks. Your nominated professional referees are to be your current supervisor/s (within 3-6 months). Your referees will be contacted via email ONLY to complete an online Referee Report, so please ensure that you include their correct email address in your application form.
A professional referee is a person that can provide us with detail in respect to your work ethic, experience and competency. We reserve the right to request an additional referee if we believe a person has not been fully forthcoming.
Allow approx 5 days for us to conduct the reference checks. However, this may take longer dependent on how responsive your referees are.
STEP 3 - Onboarding
When you have satisfied the recruitment requirement as a Supply applicant, you will be notified when your application is at Onboarding status. HR Onboarding team will prepare and issue your Supply contract. You will need to review your contract and provide us with your acceptance along with the completed onboarding documents listed in your offer letter. HR Onboarding will then process your acceptance in our Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
Allow HR Onboarding approx 5 days to prepare your contract and approx 5 days to process your acceptance and onboarding documents into our HRIS system. However, this may take longer dependent on how responsive you are.
STEP 4 - Mandatory Compliance Training
You are required to compete ten (10) Townsville Catholic Education e-Learning Modules, as part of your annual Compliance Training. This training is compulsory for all staff.

Security Awareness Training (30mins)
Once we have processed your details in the HRIS system, you will be issued with supply login details (ie supply email address, username and password). Information about the compliance training and the link to access them will be emailed to your supply email address. You are required to complete ALL the compliance training online within the specific timeframe. Failure to comply will result in cancellation of your Supply application.
Finally, when you have completed the Compliance Training, you will be sent an invitation to register your profile with Tap for Teacher. Tap for Teacher is a Supply list database and the schools within the Diocese of Townsville have access to this to find suitable Supply. Once your profile has been created and approved on Tap for Teacher, you can approach the schools and they can invite you for supply work opportunities.
Please allow us approximately 3 days for this portion of the process .
WHAT YOU NEED
Before you commence your registration, please have the following documents ready to upload (must be in PDF or JPEG format):
A current CV or resume
Proof of working rights in the form of a birth certificate or current Passport or Australian Citizenship Certificate or valid working Visa accompanied by a copy of your current passport.
PAID Blue Card
Photo identification (e.g. Drivers Licence or Passport)
If applicable, documents explaining any change to your name
Two PROFESSIONAL reference details (must be your current supervisor/s (within 3-6 months)) including their correct email address
Please ensure that all attachments are legible and provided in correct format (JPEG or PDF ONLY).
Also note that not providing these REQUIREMENTS will result in the withdrawal of your application due to it being incomplete. TCE welcome you to resubmit a complete application at any time.
