About Other Matter

Other Matter is an experimental design studio reimagining material futures. We develop sustainable, regenerative alternatives to petrochemical plastics.

The Role

We’re looking for adaptable, hands-on technicians to support our studio’s material production. You’ll be part of a small, innovative team making forward-thinking materials and designs. This is a casual role with flexible hours based on project needs.

What You’ll Do

· Studio Production

· Assist in the hands-on creation of high-quality materials and products

· Learn and apply new techniques quickly and independently

· Set up and pack down each day—cleaning workspaces, tools, pots, and pans

· Safety & Studio Care

· Follow all OH&S protocols and studio guidelines

· Help maintain a clean, organised, and hazard-free workspace

· Pitch in where needed to keep operations running smoothly

What We’re Looking For

Experience:

· Must have experience in a fast-paced, hands-on environment (e.g. hospitality kitchen or production studio)

Skills & Traits:

· Quick to learn and confident with your hands

· Comfortable with repetitive tasks and keen attention to detail

· Solid communicator who works well with others

· Problem-solver with a can-do attitude

Bonus:

· Experience using drills, cutting tools, and measuring gear

Mindset:

· Reliable, proactive, and self-motivated

The Fine Print

Hours: Generally 9am–5pm or 8am–4pm (weekdays), project-dependent

Pay: $32/hour casual rate

Breaks: As per workplace guidelines

You’ll be expected to:

· Sign an NDA before starting

· Respect studio confidentiality at all times

· Follow all privacy and IP protocols set by the company
