About the role
As the Principal Building Engineer, your leadership, investigative thinking, and communication skills, combined with your building industry experience, will be essential in contributing to the safety of the Western Australian community.
You will assist the manager of Audit and Director Building Compliance with formulating strategies, department policies, technical standards, and provide advice to the compliance directorate.
The role:
Develop and deliver public educational plans and programs to promote appropriate industry practise,
Monitor trends as well as lead and assist with investigations into structural failure events,
Work with jurisdictions, Standards Australia and other stakeholders to assist in the development of technical and safety standards for the building and engineering industry,
Essential requirements for this role:
A bachelor's degree in Structural/Civil Engineering with eligibility for membership of Engineers Australia as a Professional Engineer,
Demonstrated ability to lead investigations into structural failures and to develop and implement effective mitigation strategies.
Extensive knowledge of technical standards and work practices in the building industry
