For the Love Hospitality is a growing, professional and passionate group, run by sibling duo, Adam and Elisa Mariani. We’ve been creating since 2012, with current venues Greta and Maverick, both in the Melbourne CBD.

Elio’s Place is a vibrant bistro in the heart of Melbourne's culinary district. Open early, up late, we offer breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days a week. The menu showcases European bistro classics melded with modern Australian flair, it’s where old world European charm meets warm and welcoming hospitality.
About the role
We are seeking a talented and hands on dynamic individual to join us as Head Chef, someone who can execute the style and vision of Elio’s Place. As the Head Chef, you will be the inspiring force of the culinary operations, overseeing all aspects of the kitchen. Lead your team by example through workplace culture, menu development, food preparation and presentation, ensuring highest standards of quality and consistency.
Key responsibilities
Leadership: Provide guidance and direction to foster a collaborative work environment, promoting creativity, teamwork and professional development.
Menu design: Collaborate with the group Executive Chef and owner to design seasonal menus showcasing local ingredients and culinary trends.
Operations: Supervise, train and develop kitchen staff, prepare rosters, and carry out performance management. Oversee food preparation and service to ensure quality and consistency in every dish. Manage inventory levels so as to minimise waste and control costs. Collaborate with the owners and the group Executive Chef to achieve financial budgets and increase sales.
Community: Cultivate a sense of community at Elio’s Place; work closely with all departments to deliver memorable dining experiences and a cohesive team environment.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with food safety standards, occupational health and safety, and industry best practices
Skills & Experience
At least 2 years proven experience as a Head Chef, with expertise in lunch and dinner service.
Knowledge of modern Australian and classic European cuisines and techniques.
Strong communication and leadership skills that motivate and inspire a high performing kitchen team.
Excellent culinary skills and an eye for detail, a creative mindset and passion for offering exceptional food that considers contemporary trends.
Ability to adapt, multitask, and prioritise while executing smooth service.
Organisational & administrative expertise: proven experience managing inventory, meeting KPI’s, managing food and labour budgets, preparing rosters, driving sales, and reporting to key stakeholders.
Sound knowledge of food safety and occupational health and safety standards.
Qualifications
Previous experience as Head chef
Relevant trade qualification
Valid Food Safety Supervisor certification
