We are an international company with a global footprint in 26 countries. The Australian division of our explosives business has been operating for over 10 years and is undergoing significant growth with the expansion of a production facility in Western Australia.
To support our strategic growth, we are seeking an enthusiastic and suitably qualified Blasting Technicians to join our team in Western Australia to support our AXXIS Digital Initiation Systems. The ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience working in mining explosives at site level. Knowledge of electronic initiation systems shot firing, and/or blast design software experience will be highly regarded.
What we are looking for
You will be responsible for supporting our customers with open pit and underground blasting activities, support of BME blasting products, liaising with customers and supporting their needs regarding electronic initiating systems. Once trained in BME’s products, you will be responsible for the on-site training of customers in our electronic initiation systems, blast design software and the full application of the BME product range.
This role is very much a hands-on position in which you will be responsible for providing product support services, including the responsibilities for on-bench including the role out of training, on-bench support, technical competency assessments, and post blast assessments to ensure that we meet the needs of the customer.
The work location is flexible with various customer sites primarily across Western Australia, with back up customer support in other states required from time to time. The flexibility to travel and work away from home is required in this role.
About you
A formal qualification in Mining/Explosives Engineering – highly regarded
Current Shotfirer certification
Demonstrate sound technical and blasting knowledge
Demonstrated ability in preparing optimised Drill and Blast Designs – highly regarded
Passionate about safe work practices and procedures
Strong communication and be outcomes-driven
A team player with well-developed interpersonal skills capable of working within a multi-disciplinary team
Prior experience in open cut and underground mining and blasting
Certificate IV in Training & Assessing or willingness to complete
