About the role

The City Planning Coordinator is responsible for leading a team of planners to ensure Council maintains of a contemporary framework of statutory plans, carry out strategic land use planning activities and progress planning proposals and rezonings. The role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the significant change currently underway in Penrith. With the opening of the new Airport, new Metro stations and significant growth projected, this is an opportunity for an experienced strategic planner with strong people leader skills to help deliver great outcomes for the City.

Essential criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in urban / town planning or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in the formulation and implementation of strategic and land-use planning policy
  • Proven experience in effectively coordinating and delivering multi-faceted planning functions.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience stakeholder and community engagement
  • Strong analytical, project management and organisational skills, with a demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage competing tasks, meet deadlines and achieve targets
  • Current Class C Driver Licence.

Salary: A competitive salary package up to $177,997.49 per annum, inclusive of 11.5% superannuation will be negotiated commensurate with the skills, qualifications, and experience of the preferred candidate.

Access to a Leaseback Vehicle or Car Allowance is also available with this position; however, it is not a condition of employment.

You will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied. Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, in order to progress through the recruitment process.

The City Planning department is responsible for coordinating long term planning for the City. We deliver a range of programs and services including maintaining a contemporary planning framework, local infrastructure funding and place-based planning projects.
