About the Role

The Intake Officer reports to the Client Services Coordinator and provides intake and client liaison services, ensuring that members of the community and sector contacting our service receive a professional, warm and responsive service. The position works under general direction, applying well-established procedures, methods and guidelines to deliver high quality and timely intake services to clients.

Support and lead clients through the Centre’s intake process

Provide information about services and programs to a range of non-client callers, such as referring agencies and services and develop effective working relationships with key partners.

Engage with staff across the Centre to maximise outcomes in line with the integrated and multidisciplinary service model.

Demonstrate commitment to the values, principles and service modality of WLC, applying these through the client intake process.

Contribute knowledge, skill, judgement and initiative to client intake and associated procedures.

Display excellent practice skills in daily work, including ensuring accurate and timely record keeping, document management, and data input.

Utilise trauma-informed practice principles in daily work.

Ensure the practical application of legal confidentiality throughout all client, and non-client, communications, escalating and seeking support or approvals as per processes.

Work in alignment with Centre values and policies

Participate in reflective practice, clinical debriefing and other staff wellbeing initiatives.

Skills and Qualifications required

The Centre highly values lived experience of intersectionality and welcomes applications from First Nations women, women from migrant and refugee backgrounds, women of colour and women with other relevant lived experience.

Skills Essential:

Communication skills – Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage effectively with clients, staff, and stakeholders across diversity.

De-escalation and Resolution Skills – Ability to analyse issues, resolve moderately complex problems, and contribute to process improvements

IT Proficiency - Confidence in the use of IT systems such as Microsoft (Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint), client management systems and databases.

Values alignment – Strong personal alignment with the values of the Centre, including a commitment to intersectional feminist, and trauma-informed practice.

Skills Desirable:

Cultural awareness and competencies to work in ways that recognise and counteract privilege and bias, and appreciate the values, traditions, belief systems, and experience of First Nations People

Qualifications:

Working with Vulnerable People registration in the ACT, or ability to obtain;

Desirable tertiary or working towards qualifications in a relevant discipline (social work, law, counselling, community services or other).
