Prevention, Early Intervention and Recovery Service (PEIRS) – Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is a specialised adolescent mental health team committed to fostering opportunities for young people to thrive beyond the challenges of mental illness.

What you'll be doing
As a Registered Nurse with PEIRS, you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based mental health care for young people and their families, providing assessment, case management, and therapeutic interventions within a community setting.

  • Deliver individual and group therapy services, medication management, and clinical assessments
  • Coordinate care planning and case management for young people aged 12–24
  • Provide clinical advice and psychoeducation to families, carers, and key stakeholders
  • Participate in quality improvement, education, and health promotion initiatives
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support recovery outcomes

Essential Criteria:

  • License: Current NSW Drivers Licence.
  • Qualification: Relevant tertiary qualifications as a Registered Nurse.
  • Registration: Demonstrated full registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Registered Nurse with significant experience and knowledge in working with children and /or young people with mental health concerns and their parents/ guardians and families in a community mental health setting.
  2. Demonstrated understanding of the principles of trauma informed care and its application to therapeutic interventions with children/young people and their parents/guardian and family.
  3. Evidence of ability to build and maintain cooperative professional and therapeutic relationships with children/ young people and their parents /guardians and key stakeholders through the application of well-developed interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  4. Demonstrated independent problem-solving skills with proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team within minimal direct clinical supervision.
  5. Demonstrated high-level verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit children/young people and their parents/guardians and families; and ability to exercise independent professional judgement when solving problems.
  6. Working knowledge of the NSW Mental Health Act 2007.
  7. Demonstrated ability to meet the supervision needs of students and/or less experienced staff in addition to leading planning and evaluating team activities.
  8. Current and valid NSW drivers’ licence and willing to use for work purpose.
