Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV) is delivering a massive investment in the state's roads. We're delivering major new road projects across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria while improving the roads people rely on every day.

The West Gate Tunnel Project will give Melbourne a second freeway link between the west and the city - providing a much-needed alternative to the West Gate Bridge and a vital second river crossing.

North East Link will fix the missing link in Melbourne's freeway network with new 6.5 km tunnels from Watsonia to Bulleen. We're also overhauling the Eastern Freeway and completing the M80 Ring Road at Greensborough.

MRPV is also delivering dozens of new roads, bridges, road widening projects and major freeway upgrades.

Job description:

Join us in building better connections for Victoria by:

  • Developing documentation and briefs for internal and government approvals on commercial and contract management matters, presenting recommendations to senior management.
  • Leading, resolving and negotiating day to day commercial issues and matters in relation to the Program and relevant work packages, making recommendations to the Commercial Manager where required.
  • Analysing and assessing claims for compensation including from business disruption, scope variations, differing site conditions, delay, disruption and acceleration, escalation and cumulative impact. Ensure the highest ethical standard in the delivery of MRPV's objectives, with strong commitment to the management of safety across all activities.
  • Managing the preparation of tender documentation, tender evaluation, contract negotiation and award of construction contracts and other significant procurement packages.
  • Evaluating processes and implement continuous improvement initiatives to achieve efficiency and effectiveness of delivery of the program of works.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Senior Contract Manager supports the commercial, contractual and financial management of major construction projects for the Tram to Springvale Package on the North East Link Program. This position interfaces with commercial and legal advisors and is a wholly embedded resource within the respective works package, working collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary project team.

Responsibilities include managing and providing commercial and contractual advice, assessing and preparing responses to contract proposals and variations throughout the project life cycle. Liaise directly with external stakeholders and represent from a MRPV perspective.

About You

You're a decisive self-starter with a strong ability to facilitate robust conversations, influence and negotiate effectively to overcome issues, identify opportunities and reach mutually beneficial agreements. A refined understanding and experience of commercial and contractual issues at all stages of major construction project lifecycle are essential components to succeed in this role.

Additionally:

  • Demonstrated abilities developing a suite of quality procurement documentation in line with strategic directions.
  • Natural leadership and collaborative style that brings together a broad range of parties and a genuine desire to work and support others to operate, in a multi-disciplinary function environment.
  • Proven experience managing major infrastructure project contract administration.
  • Comprehensive understanding of principles, practices and standards associated with contract management to deliver a specific outcome at a specific time, often as part of a larger program.

This opportunity is a 3-year fixed term opportunity.

It will be a requirement to travel and spend time at one or all our site offices.
