Are you passionate about community engagement and creating meaningful change? At Meli, we’re driven by our mission to empower individuals and strengthen communities. We are seeking a dedicated Community Engagement officer to join the Safe at Home program, a transformative initiative that enables victim survivors to remain safe and secure in their homes while holding perpetrators accountable.

About the Role

As a Community Engagement Officer, you will:

  • Build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to support the Safe at Home program’s objectives.
  • Plan and deliver impactful engagement activities, including events, campaigns, and education sessions to increase awareness and understanding of family violence.
  • Foster partnerships and raise the visibility of the Safe at Home program across the Geelong region through proactive engagement and advocacy.
  • Support community education to help shift values, promote early intervention, and ensure victim survivors’ safety and independence.
  • Contribute to the program’s evaluation, reporting, and advocacy efforts to ensure continuous improvement and positive outcomes.

  • Fixed term position until 27 December 2027
  • 1 FTE working 38 hours per week
  • $106,644 p/a + Super + Salary Packaging

What We're Looking For

We value individuals who bring dedication, empathy, and expertise to their roles. To succeed in this position, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Community Development, Health Promotion, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in community engagement and knowledge of the family violence system.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences and build rapport with key stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, adapt to changing priorities, and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and aligning your work with Meli’s values and child-safe standards.
