The Role

ASD is seeking Digital Signal Processing Specialists, who will apply advanced analytical techniques to find solutions to complex problems in the Radio Frequency (RF) communications domain and contribute to the development of tools and capabilities that support intelligence operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analysing and interpreting RF and digital communication signals
• Developing and applying signal detection, modulation, coding and classification techniques
• Evaluating, modelling and simulating communication system
• Supporting the development of tools for signal analysis and processing
• Collaborate with experts from intelligence, technical and operational domain
• Contribute to capability development and integration.

About our Team

Our multidisciplinary team, within ASD’s Mission Capability Division, delivers cutting-edge communications technologies to support ASD’s Signals Intelligence and Offensive Cyber missions. You will work with a range of experienced engineers, analysts and project delivery specialists to develop, deliver and sustain unique capabilities that leverage state-of-the-art technologies and techniques to deliver critical national security outcomes.

Our Ideal Candidate

An ideal candidate would have:

• Strong understanding of RF signals and digital communications concepts; for example, waveforms and modulation, signal framing, error correction and synchronization
• Proficiency in developing signal-processing solutions using common software language, for example, Python or C++
• Experience working with development of real-time or low-latency signal processing solutions
• Appreciation of vulnerability research and discovery
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mind-set
• Interest in solving real-world problems through RF signal analysis and algorithm development
• Familiarity with wireless communication protocols, spectrum operations or bespoke waveforms would be well regarded.
