Australian Veteran Health Services (AVHS) is seeking a visionary and experienced Head of Clinical to lead our national clinical and wellbeing operations. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of veteran healthcare in a high-impact executive role.

THE ROLE
As Head of Clinical, you will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight across all clinical and wellbeing services. You’ll mentor and guide Clinical Managers (nursing), Wellbeing Leads, and the Permanent Impairment Administration Team to ensure the highest standards of care, compliance, and innovation.
This role is ideal for a driven executive, clinical leader who thrives in a dynamic, values-driven environment and is passionate about leadership and improving the lives of veterans.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead clinical governance and quality assurance across all AVHS sites
Mentor and develop high-performing multidisciplinary teams
Oversee onboarding, training, and performance management
Drive strategic initiatives aligned with AVHS’s mission
Ensure compliance with DVA guidelines and legislative standards
Collaborate with the CEO and Executive Team on service delivery and innovation
Manage operational efficiency, recruitment, and stakeholder engagement
About You
Essential:
Master's degree or higher in Clinical Psychology or a related field.
Minimum 5 years in a senior clinical leadership role
Deep understanding of clinical governance and healthcare compliance
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire clinical teams
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
Valid and current professional license to practice
Desirable:
Experience in veteran healthcare or occupational medicine
Familiarity with medico-legal reporting and DVA frameworks
Track record of leading quality improvement initiatives
