Ensure correct patient identification, labelling and collection techniques are followed according to documented policies and procedures when required by service delivery.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated experience in or the ability to rapidly learn pre-analytical processes in a complex specimen reception/specimen collection unit.
- Demonstrated experience in or the ability to acquire experience in the correct procedures of specimen reception/specimen collection including the application of established policies and guidelines with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated high level skills, or the ability to rapidly acquire high level skills, in the use of Microsoft Office applications and the laboratory information system (AUSLAB).
- Ability to efficiently prioritise workloads, show initiative, problem solve and work effectively without direct supervision.
- Proven ability to work effectively as a team member and to communicate effectively with clients, clinical staff and colleagues, including the ability to work across the TPCH Group Laboratories.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in quality and service improvement activities in accordance with National Association of Testing Authority/International Standardisation Organisation (NATA/ISO) accreditation / certification.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- Mandatory Qualifications – Nil.
- While not mandatory, a Certificate III or IV in Pathology (Laboratory Assistance/Technique) or equivalent would be well regarded.
- This position requires the incumbent to participate in rosters that include day, evening and overnight shifts as well as weekends and public holidays as required.
