Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Perform a diverse range of tasks in the Microbiology Specimen Reception area to a consistently high standard in accordance with established laboratory protocols.
- Knowledge and experience in data entry and word processing.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work conscientiously and accurately with minimal local supervision.
- Be proficient in the use of laboratory equipment (e.g. centrifuges, cytospin, staining machine).
- Knowledge and understanding of the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement.
- Demonstrated literacy and numeracy skills including the ability to read and follow instructions, work conscientiously and to contribute and function as an effective team member to achieve our organisational goals and objectives.
- Demonstrate a high level of commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement, in accordance with National Association of Testing Authority/International Standardisation Organisation (NATA/ISO).
- Demonstrate ability to cooperate and actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, workplace health and safety and an ethical environment.
