ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Council’s Assets, Capital and Facilities unit sits within the City Services directorate and focuses on the beautification of the Cumberland LGA. Cumberland City Council owns five (5) and operates four (4) Aquatic and Leisure Centre facilities across the LGA which provide recreational services to our community.

In contributing to the overarching vision, the Aquatic Operations Supervisor is to assist the efficient and effective operation and management of the Aquatic Centres, including Aquatic programs, at Council by providing patrons and hirers with high-quality customer service and clean, safe, friendly and well-presented facilities. This is achieved by directing and leading a team of dedicated and committed employees and overseeing the daily operations of the Aquatic facilities such as active lifeguarding, supervision of lifeguard services, facility and pool plant operations and maintenance, cleaning, water quality and aquatic program supervision.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Current Pool Lifeguard Licence
  • Current First Aid
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate
  • Aquatic Technical operator Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Current Chemcert AQF3 Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Relevant experience in an Aquatic supervisory role with a commitment to safe pool practices
  • Effective oral/written communication skills
  • Quality customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and work within a team environment

About this role:

  • Permanent, full-time position
  • 70 hour fortnight and will be required to work on a rotating roster which includes weekends.
  • Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement
  • Located at Council's Granville and Wentworthville Swim Centres, with frequent travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 8 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,336.51 to $1,536.98 per week, plus 11.5% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role

What you'll need to have for this role:

  • The right to live and work in Australia
  • Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
  • Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required
  • Provide evidence of your vaccination status as part of the employment screening process, in accordance with Council’s COVID-19 Vaccination Procedure.
